dog wash

Trying to decide when and how to bathe your dog is often difficult. This is because bathing frequency depends on a number of factors: the particular breed of dog, how much time is spent outdoors, the dog's age, and any existing medical conditions, to name a few.

A few other tips to remember about bathing. . .

1  Always use a shampoo formulated for dogs. Human shampoos have a different pH level and often use harsher detergents than pet shampoos. You can do more damage than good if you use a human shampoo on pets. After shampooing, rinse very thoroughly. Shampoo residue can be very irritating to your pet's skin.

2  Start bathing your dog when he or she is young so bath time will be easier as your dog ages.

3  Brushing is one of the best ways to take care of your dog's skin and coat. In many cases, it is more important than bathing. Brushing and removing mats should always be done before the bath.

The ASPCA recommends bathing your dog every 3 months.

We offer bathing for all dogs. That includes nail trimming and ear cleaning, bathing, drying, and a brush out. We use specific shampoo for each dogs coat including medicated, oatmeal, hypoallergenic, citrus and berry.

Why control fleas...

Dogs and cats often live with fleas showing minimal signs of infestation. Often you are not aware your pet has a flea problem until the damage is done and your home is infested with them.

The most common skin disease of dogs and cats is called flea allergy dermatitis, where they bite and scratch and lose their hair. It can take only a few fleas for this allergy to become a problem.

Controlling common parasites on your dog or cat can be a nuisance as pets manage to find ways to bring in "unwanted guests". Flea shampoos and dips work well to kill fleas, ticks, and lice and many are designed to keep your pet's skin and coat well-nourished so that their bodies are left feeling clean and refreshed.

de-skunkingRemember to always consult your vet before you administer any over-the-counter medication.

Please call for an estimate.

The final cost will depend on the length of the time, difficulty of the bath and the condition of the coat. Unfortunately, we do not bath cats.

If your pet has been “skunked” we offer a de-skunk treatment for an additional $10.00.
